I. hate. being. sick.
I hate it.
I have all of this crap in my lungs. I hate it. Luckily, it haven't been too nauseous. I've been able to eat OK, and drink OK. My numbers have been...decent, but a little on the high side. No ketones though. I plan on going to the health clinic tomorrow. Blah. I am going to go take ANOTHER nap.
*Update* I spoke too soon. My numbers are crap. And you know that lack of nausea? Yeah, that's no longer true. Thank goodness for temp basals. I am now running at 125%, but I don't know if I want to leave that for tonight. I have been sleeping so heavily that my roommate had music on and was talking and laughing with another girl (they didn't know I was sleeping) and I didn't hear them. So which is the lesser of the 2 evils, running in the 200's all night, or risk going low? I'll probably just let the temp basal expire and sleep without it tonight.

So sorry to hear you are sick... I hate it too! :o(. Hopefully, tomorrow you'll feel a little better, but I'd go and get checked out at the clinic anyway... just to be safe.

Anyway, rest up and get well soon :)

I am sorry to hear that you are ill, Jen; here's to hoping you will feel better soon.

Regarding your temp basal, most of us (but not I) would prefer to go a little high instead of a little low. Personally, I would ask myself how good my response to hypos was (you know the three stages -- endogenous glucagon, then various catecholamines, then epinephrine as the last line of defence).

If a hypo, for you, means seizures or a coma, well, that would be something to avoid.

If, on the other hand, it means five minutes of clammy hands while at 40 mg/dl, and then you bounce back by yourself, it may be worth trading off this against a day of feeling crappy due to high BGs.

And as usual, YMMV.

Cheers,
Felix.

Sorry to hear you're sick. I'm Typhoid Mary right now, so I know what you're going thru. I'd also vote for upping your temp basal for a bit - being sick and feeling like crap from being high would suck a lot.
